基云：此義未起後下煩惱對治加行以來諸所有漸觀修習發心等是前對治道勝進道。又得初果以來趣求第二三果起樂趣入無學究竟位以來可有發心修行等是前勝進道。

Ji says: "This meaning is: before generating the application of the antidote to the lower afflictions that follow, all instances of gradual contemplation, cultivation, generation of aspiration, and so forth are the path of superior progress of the preceding antidote path. Furthermore, from attaining the first fruit onward, aspiring toward and seeking the second and third fruits and generating the aspiration to delight in entering the ultimate stage of non-learning, any generation of mind, practice, and so forth are the preceding path of superior progress.
