8.220

至極究竟者，以到無學果故，此即第一勝。畢竟無垢者是第二，羅漢斷三界惑盡也。畢竟證得梵行邊際者是第三。謂超有學行梵行者猶未到極，今無學到邊也。離諸開鍵者，三界煩惱留住有情不令出離猶如開鍵，無學離之即第四也。

"Reaching the ultimate culmination": because he has arrived at the fruit of non-learning, this is the first preeminence. "Permanently without defilement" is the second: the arhat has severed all afflictions of the three realms. "Permanently realizing the boundary of the holy life" is the third: surpassing those in training who practice the holy life but have not yet reached the ultimate, now the non-learner has reached its boundary. "Free from all bolts": the afflictions of the three realms detain sentient beings and prevent them from escaping, like bolts; the non-learner is free from them, which is the fourth.
