習中，三藏云：前第二人身具聲聞獨覺二種，故種聲聞解脫分善已，經於三生更值佛世，轉根得成獨覺種姓，能引獨覺決擇分善令得現起，其第三人，初之三果值佛出世轉成獨覺，非是異生，故不還果名至極處。

Regarding habituation, the Tripiṭaka Master says: the body of the second person mentioned above possesses both the śrāvaka and pratyekabuddha kinds; hence, having planted the wholesome roots conducive to śrāvaka liberation, passing through three lifetimes and again encountering a Buddha's era, their faculties transform and they attain the pratyekabuddha gotra, being able to induce and actualize the wholesome roots conducive to pratyekabuddha penetration. As for the third person, having attained the first three fruits, they encounter a Buddha's appearance in the world and transform into a pratyekabuddha; they are not an ordinary person, and therefore the fruit of non-returning is called reaching the culmination.
