就種姓品中有二：初、正辨種姓相；第二、從種姓菩薩，乃至未為自法相違四隨煩惱下，隨義分別，舊科此文初是自分後是勝進。前中復三：初、明種性體；二、明種姓相；三、由諸菩薩所有種姓與如是等功德相應下，總結姓相。前中復四：初、明二種種姓體；二、釋其名；第三、對果辨麁細；第四、辨勝進過劣。

Within the Gotra Chapter, there are two parts: first, properly distinguishing the characteristics of gotra; second, from 'bodhisattvas possessing gotra' down to 'before being affected by the four secondary afflictions incompatible with one's own Dharma', distinguishing according to the meaning. Earlier outlines divided this text into: first, one's own stage; and later, superior advancement. Within the former there are again three parts: first, explaining the essence of gotra; second, explaining the characteristics of gotra; third, from 'because all bodhisattvas' gotras are endowed with such virtues...' down to the conclusion summarizing the gotra characteristics. Within the first of these there are again four parts: first, explaining the essence of the two kinds of gotras; second, explaining their names; third, distinguishing coarse and subtle with respect to the fruit; fourth, distinguishing superior advancement and inferior deficiency.
