8.332

所知障中，若見斷者，初地斷，若修斷，二地已去念念漸斷至金剛方盡，然住品中說煩惱障第三過者，謂最上成滿菩薩住斷者據無間道為論，所知障中，第三過者，謂如來住斷者據解脫道為論，即影略法門。

Among the cognitive obscurations, what is severed by seeing is severed in the first stage. What is severed by cultivation is gradually severed moment by moment from the second stage onward, until it is exhausted only at the vajra-like [mind]. However, when the 'Chapter on Abidings' speaks of the third overcoming of the affliction obscuration as being severed in the supreme and perfected bodhisattva abiding, it discusses it in terms of the uninterrupted path; when it speaks of the third overcoming among the cognitive obscurations as being severed in the Tathāgata abiding, it discusses it in terms of the path of liberation. This is a mutual ellipsis in the doctrinal formulation.
