8.357

解中，景判，初、明性自翹勤；後、辨對緣行於精進。於中，初、明俗事所為堅固；二、於真理心無怯弱。前中，初、明作事方便；二、凡所施為下，明根本業。於諸廣大已下，第二於理無怯中，先明理觀無怯，次戒入眾下，明擊論等事心無畏憚由精進成，後能引已下，明以大事況小。

In the explanation, Jing determines: First, it explains that their nature is naturally diligent; later, it differentiates practicing vigor in relation to conditions. Within this, first, it explains firmness in worldly undertakings; second, that the mind is not cowardly regarding the true principle. Within the former, first, it explains skill in means in doing things; second, from 'whatever is undertaken' downward, it explains the fundamental karma. From 'regarding various broad [undertakings]' downward is the second, being without cowardice regarding the principle: first, it explains freedom from cowardice in contemplation of the principle; next, from 'entering the assembly with morality' downward, it explains that the mind has no fear in matters like engaging in debates, which is accomplished through vigor; finally, from 'being able to lead' downward, it explains using great matters to illustrate small ones.
