基云：此具明三種，始從謂諸菩薩以下至思擇方便，要令究竟，明加行精進，次凡所施為下至懈癈退屈，明被甲精進。於諸廣大事業乃至何況小事，來明無怯弱精進。

Ji says: This fully explains three kinds: starting from 'all bodhisattvas' down to 'deliberating on skillful means, demanding that they reach completion' explains preparatory vigor; next, from 'whatever is undertaken' down to 'laxity, abandonment, and withdrawal' explains armor-like vigor; from 'regarding extensive undertakings, up to how much more so for small matters' comes to explain vigor free of cowardice.
