Master Ji explains: The wisdom cultivating emptiness is the means to bodhi; this emptiness empties the parikalpita, unlike the emptiness of non-existence spoken of earlier. First, the one line and three characters beginning with "Furthermore, this wisdom is of all bodhisattvas..." generally clarifies that the wisdom cultivating emptiness is the means to bodhi. Why? Because among the four that follow below: First, the two lines from "all bodhisattvas" down to "maturing the buddha-dharmas and all sentient beings" clarify that because of having the wisdom of emptiness, they do not cling to saṃsāra. Second, the one line and four characters from "Furthermore, they can truly understand saṃsāra" down to "deeply feel revulsion and detachment" clarifies that within saṃsāra they undergo extensive rebirths in saṃsāra to instruct and transform sentient beings, not using practices such as impermanence to turn away from saṃsāra and seek entry into nirvāṇa—that is, they do not cling to nirvāṇa. Third, the four lines from "If bodhisattvas cannot truly understand saṃsāra" down to "cannot accomplish the buddha-dharmas and sentient beings" clarifies that if one lacks wisdom, one enters extensively into saṃsāra and cannot accomplish the buddha-dharmas and sentient beings; if one possesses wisdom, one does not enter saṃsāra [in that manner] and is well able to accomplish the buddha-dharmas and sentient beings; that is, not entering saṃsāra distinguishes them from ordinary beings, because unlike ordinary beings who give rise to afflictions such as greed and enter saṃsāra, bodhisattvas do not enter it precisely through wisdom, abiding constantly in nirvāṇa. Fourth, the three lines and four characters from "If bodhisattvas deeply feel revulsion and detachment toward saṃsāra through practices such as impermanence" down to "correct and equal bodhi" clarifies that bodhisattvas are not like the two vehicles who turn away from saṃsāra to swiftly enter nirvāṇa because of lacking compassion; bodhisattvas possess compassion to instruct and transform sentient beings, not entering nirvāṇa and constantly abiding in saṃsāra, which distinguishes them from the two vehicles. The above is one turn of explanation; below is the second turn of explanation.
