初云散他迦多衍那者，泰云：舊云仙釋迦旃延音訛也。依梵本云散他迦多衍那。散他是名，迦多衍是姓。西方先舉名後方言姓，如言那提迦葉等。

Regarding the initial phrase, "Sāntakātyāyana": Tai says: "The old [translation] had 'Ṛṣi Kātyāyana', which was a phonetic error. According to the Sanskrit text, it is Sāntakātyāyana. 'Sānta' is the personal name, and 'Kātyāyana' is the family lineage (gotra). In the Western regions, the personal name is mentioned first, and only afterward the family name, just as one says 'Nadī-Kāśyapa' and so forth."
