In the former part, there are three sections. First, there are three clauses fully knowing the four truths. The first, which states "fully knowing the acquisition of the destruction of afflictions": Jing says that this knows the contaminants that are destroyed, taking suffering and origination as its object. Ji says: fully knowing the acquisition of the destruction of contaminants is the taintless acquisition, the acquisition of obtaining the destruction of contaminants. Second, "furthermore knowing the destruction of contaminants as already obtained or not yet obtained": this takes the truth of cessation as its object. Third, "furthermore knowing expedients": this is the truth of the path; "non-expedients" are suffering and origination, namely the eight wrong [paths].
