Another explanation: examining the presence or absence of the perceived aspect (nimittabhāga) and perceiving aspect (darśanabhāga) comprehensively across all minds and mental factors, there are seven interpretations in total. The first says: all minds and mental factors have both the perceived and perceiving aspects. The second says: none have them, as held by Sthiramati and others. The third says: non-conceptual knowledge lacks both parts, while the remaining minds and mental factors possess both. The fourth says: both knowledges lack the perceived and perceiving aspects, while all the rest possess both; the subsequently obtained knowledge, according to an explanation of its meaning, lacks both because it is free from the two graspings. The fifth says: non-conceptual knowledge has the perceiving aspect but lacks the perceived aspect, while the subsequently obtained knowledge has both parts; this is Dharmapāla's authentic tradition and the third orthodox position of the Buddhabhūmisūtraśāstra. The sixth says: the fundamental [knowledge] lacks both parts, while the subsequently obtained has the perceiving aspect but lacks the perceived aspect. The seventh: both the fundamental and subsequently obtained knowledges have the perceiving aspect but lack the perceived aspect, while the rest possess both.
