Ce says: Question: 'Bodhi' means awakening; the essence of the two kinds of unconditioned is not awakening, so how can they be called bodhi? The explanation is: Just as the tenth excellence in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha is the excellence of wisdom endowed with the three bodies, here likewise both wisdom and abandonment are named 'wisdom'. Why is this? Because in tathatā all virtues like the sands of the Ganges are fully present in their nature, and in accordance [with it] it can give rise to the doors of all virtues such as wisdom produced through cultivation; therefore it is called awakening, not because it illuminates an object.
