Tai says: A subsequent volition manifests the preceding volition; therefore it is called mental manifest action. Ji says: While the two kinds—body and speech—manifest to others, the mind manifests only to oneself. For example, when initiating actions of body and speech, there must be a mental manifestation that knows "I am doing such an act," and so forth; thus the mind that manifests cognition prior to subsequently doing this act is both manifest action; it is called mental manifest action.
