In the third part, the conclusion, on "Briefly, based on failure and non-failure at the four times," and so forth: at the time of acquiring the Dharma, wisdom arises regarding relying on the Dharma and not on the person; at the time of retention, meaning can be retained by text, but text cannot be retained by meaning, because of dhāraṇī; at the time of examining the meaning, one relies on the definitive rather than the non-definitive, because of the arising of doubting or discerning wisdom. On "at the time of practicing in conformity with the Dharma": 'Dharma' refers to the truth of cessation; 'conforming to the Dharma' refers to the truth of the path; when cultivating the path of escape, one relies on wisdom and not on consciousness. The above four refuges proceed from the initial practice to the subsequent practice, from gross cultivation to subtle cultivation, ultimately reaching fulfillment in this order.
