Below, based on three kinds of persons separately cultivating the three contemplations, three escapes are established. In accordance with the predominant increase of defilements in those three persons, each engages in one contemplation—either benevolence or compassion—which can lead to escape from desire, ill will, harmfulness, and so forth. Above, there is only a single category of antidote; therefore, on "subsequent escapes have no distinctions": the fourth, escape from form, distinctly relies on the base of infinite space, taking form as empty as a single category of antidote; the fifth distinctly cultivates the untainted contemplation of emptiness with regard to the body of the four aggregates as a single category of antidote. The earlier and later antidotes differ; unlike the first three, which are simultaneous escapes with multiple distinctions, it is therefore said that they have no distinctions.
