In 'other-perfection', regarding 'the teaching of the Dharma enduring long', Jing says: 'Just as the lifespan of Śākyamuni Buddha was eighty years, and the World-Honoured One Maitreya will remain for sixty thousand years: after Śākyamuni entered nirvāṇa, the true Dharma lasted five hundred years and the semblance Dharma one thousand years; after Maitreya enters nirvāṇa, the Dharma will abide in the world also for sixty thousand years. Whether abiding or disappearing, during that period the true Dharma does not perish.'
