The four dharmas are desire, diligence, mind, and observation. Desire and diligence are two within the wholesome category; mind is mental consciousness; observation is wisdom among the specific object-determining factors; all are said to be accomplished in the activity of abandonment. "Abandonment" is another name for cessation, which still refers to cultivating the eight provisions of cessation in order to eliminate the five faults. As stated in the *Satyasiddhi*: desire-samādhi up to observation-samādhi all name the fruit after the cause; thus it says desire and so forth.
