In the first part, there are six based on the antidote and that which is to be remedied. Regarding 'such six minds should be known as all arising at the time of engaging, etc.', Jing says: because they do not arise when gathering mindfulness and abiding on the cognitive object, they are said to arise relying on the time of engaging. Ji says: the previous six minds all arise when actively operating, hence called 'the time of engaging'; it is not that abiding and engaging are called 'the time of engaging'. The time of engaging being thus, the time of abiding should be understood accordingly. As previously explained, arising when not yet abiding in absorption is called the time of engaging; arising when abiding in absorption is called the time of abiding.
