Ji says: The statement, "If it can induce taintless knowledge," does not refer to tainted preparatory knowledge. Why is the reality that is the domain of knowledge purified of the affliction obstruction not an objectification of unconditioned nirvāṇa? The meaning is: the treatise states that it is not precisely the knowledge that objectifies nirvāṇa; this knowledge that can induce taintless knowledge does objectify nirvāṇa, and it is also said that this preparatory [path] is included herein. When the treatise says, "Because of frequently cultivating the view of the absence of self-nature in the person of the ripening aggregates," it means frequently cultivating the view that there is no self outside of the aggregates.
