The mental bhūmi (manobhūmi) has three meanings: first, the manas among the six sense faculties; second, the manovijñāna among the six consciousnesses; third, subsumption by the seventh manas. They correspond in this order. However, the six consciousnesses may also be called kāya. This is the second explanation. Just as mental feeling is called solely "mental" and not given the name of kāya, because consciousness is an aggregate of supports of its own essence, it can be called kāya; but since its basis is non-physical, it is called mental feeling. The first and last two explanations are concise, and thus do not use the words "associated with the collection", and for this reason they do not speak of bhūmis of mind (citta) or consciousness (vijñāna).
