Regarding the treatise's statement: "The term 'non-existence' refers to the conventional self-nature of forms... up to: all are completely non-existent; this is termed 'non-existence'" and so forth: this meaning clarifies that, just as when one imagines the conventional self-nature of forms and so forth to be without fact and without characteristic, precisely because forms and so forth lack fact and characteristic, the expressive conventions upon which they rely to speak of 'conventional designation'—these expressive conventions upon which the absence of fact and characteristic relies—are entirely non-existent. Because their basis is non-existent, all imagined forms and so forth are completely non-existent; this is termed 'non-existence'. In this way, imagining existence and non-existence are both the imaginary nature (parikalpita-svabhāva); the noble ones eliminate them, which is called the Middle Way.
