論云「散他迦多衍那子」，即迦旃延字。迦多延尼名，為種姓婆羅門十八姓中即一姓也，如四姓中云李性也。散他者，即種性中別一種姓，如一李中有其多，謂趙郡、隴西諸差別也。

The treatise says, "Sāntakātyāyanīputra"—this is the style name of Kātyāyana. "Kātyāyanī" is a name, which is one clan among the eighteen Brahmin clans, like the surname Li among the four surnames. "Sānta" is a particular branch within the clan, just as within the one surname Li there are many, namely the various distinctions of Zhaojun, Longxi, and so forth.
