In the treatise's explanation of all varieties of vigor, there are six kinds; in unshakeable vigor, where it says "also not turning to become of another disposition," this means that the bodhisattva does not regress solely upon experiencing painful contact, nor does he regress and enter into the disposition of the other two vehicles. Regarding "therefore it is said: having vigor, having exertion, and so on, six kinds belonging to the preceding six kinds," this means that having firmness and having fierceness, joined with the other four, make six kinds. Among the seven kinds, in the third it says "like putting out a fire on one's head": "fire" means an arising blaze, meaning one should act urgently as though saving one's head, saying [or] one's back.
