Where it states 'four purities' in purity bringing about fruits: 'purity of basis' means taking the bases of supernormal power as basis, acquiring mastery over abiding and relinquishing, namely extending or shortening life and so forth; 'purity of objective realm' means the three kinds of mastery in transformation; 'purity of mind' means entering into immeasurable concentrations in a single moment and so forth; 'purity of knowledge' means explaining all dharmas within a single syllable, as explained in fascicle fourteen of the Abhidharma. / Or basis and so forth are as analyzed among the twenty-two virtues. That this can also bring about fruits concordant with transmigration in saṃsāra means: if uncontaminated practice looks toward contaminated fruits, it acts as an empowering condition assisting their fruition; if contaminated practice looks toward contaminated fruits, it directly brings them about.
