11.67

論「云何毘鉢舍那？謂諸菩薩乃至是名毘鉢舍那」，明十種智。《顯揚》第一及下九十四，廣解可知。此等四種，初之二種，得增上偏修為論，其實一人俱具定慧；後之二種，第三是方便道，第四正是方便之果。

The treatise says: "What is vipaśyanā? It refers to bodhisattvas... up to... this is named vipaśyanā," clarifying the ten kinds of knowledge. The Prakaraṇāryavācā, Fascicle 1, and Fascicle 94 below explain this extensively and can be consulted. Regarding these four kinds, the first two are discussed in terms of an attained predominance in one-sided cultivation, though in reality one person possesses both samatha and vipaśyanā; of the latter two kinds, the third is the path of expedient means (prayoga-mārga), and the fourth is precisely the fruit of expedient means.
