〈戒品〉者，前明〈施品〉，以除外慳；今次持戒，以防內垢。廣辨戒行，故云〈戒品〉。即防非之異名，清涼之殊稱，不可雙舉，目之〈戒品〉。

Regarding the "Chapter on Precepts": previously the "Chapter on Giving" was clarified in order to eliminate external stinginess; next comes the upholding of precepts in order to prevent internal defilements. Because it extensively explains the practice of precepts, it is called the "Chapter on Precepts". It is an alternate name for preventing wrongdoing, a distinctive designation for cool purity; since both cannot be raised together, it is designated the "Chapter on Precepts".
