11.87

論解饒益有情戒云「略有十一種相，謂諸菩薩於諸有情能引義利」等，有十一又字，即為十一相。若依舊《地持》，即於此初中分為二：謂於諸有情能引義利彼彼事業，與作助伴是一；於諸有情隨所生起乃至亦作助伴為第二。彼有別言第一、第二等二字。今此論以同法是助伴故，故為一順。此文為正。此論第四、第五二門，彼合為第五。故有此開合不同。

Where the treatise explains the precepts of benefiting sentient beings, saying: "Briefly there are eleven characteristics, meaning that bodhisattvas, for sentient beings, are able to bring about benefit […]" and so forth: there are eleven occurrences of the word "moreover", which constitute the eleven characteristics. If following the older Bodhisattvabhūmi-sūtra, within this first [characteristic] it is divided into two: namely, acting as a companion in those various affairs that can bring about benefit for sentient beings is one; according with whatever arises for sentient beings […] up to: also acting as a companion is the second. That [text] has the separate words "first", "second", and so forth. Now, because this treatise considers being a companion to be of the same dharma, it forms a single compliant [item]. This text is standard. The fourth and fifth gates of this treatise are combined as the fifth in that [text]. Thus there are these differences in opening and combining.
