論解菩薩應於異道論研求善巧，非如辛藥而習近之者，此外論狀同辛藥，應厭背之，不可近也，是此中意。

The Treatise explains that a bodhisattva should seek expertise in the treatises of other paths, but not take them up and associate with them as if they were a pungent medicine: these external treatises are like a pungent medicine, which should be loathed and turned away from, and not closely associated with; this is the intended meaning here.
