The treatise says: "Transcending the seventh mixed-pure abode, one attains entry into the eighth purely pure abode." Because being interrupted by contaminated mind is called mixed, purely uncontaminated is called purely pure; this is from the eighth bhūmi upward. The continuum masters explain: because the seventh bhūmi involves effort it is called mixed, and because the eighth bhūmi lacks it, it is called pure. As for interrupted or uninterrupted, this is the doctrine of the school that from the eighth bhūmi onward, contaminated mind arises intermittently.
