第九地。論云「謂諸菩薩於甚深住不生喜足，復於增上智殊勝性愛樂趣入」者，前八地除四災中，第二、除斷於上清淨住精勤思慕，何故此地上有於智殊勝性愛樂趣入？義曰：前有所希求，是染法執，七地起之，八地斷之。今此地無漏觀中，愛樂智殊勝，樂無礙解，非染執故，不同前災也。

Ninth Bhūmi. Regarding the treatise's statement, "Bodhisattvas do not generate complacency with the profound stage, and further aspire to enter into the superiority of higher knowledge": Earlier, among the elimination of the four calamities on the eighth bhūmi, the second was eliminating and severing diligent yearning for the higher, pure stage; why does this bhūmi have an aspiration to enter into the superiority of knowledge? The meaning is: earlier, having something to seek after was a defiled attachment to phenomena; the seventh bhūmi arouses it, and the eighth bhūmi severs it. Now, within the outflow-free contemplation of this bhūmi, delighting in the superiority of knowledge and delighting in unhindered understanding is not a defiled attachment; hence it is not the same as the former calamity.
