論總結中云略顯四重，謂所說義、正理、大師、修所成慧真實證智，如前四依，次第而配。第二、大師，即上依法不依人。　依法不依人者，何名大師？此中雖是大師，大師謂佛，所說亦不可信存於法。又若大師說，不是正理，故以大師之言結依法不依人也。

In the treatise's general conclusion, it says that it briefly reveals four layers, namely: the explained meaning, the correct principle, the Great Master, and the true realization wisdom of the wisdom resulting from cultivation. These are matched in order to the former four reliances. The second, the Great Master, corresponds to the above "relying on the Dharma and not relying on the person." Regarding "relying on the Dharma and not relying on the person," what is called the Great Master? Although he is the Great Master here—the Great Master meaning the Buddha—what he says must also not simply be believed, but must abide in the Dharma. Furthermore, if what the Great Master says were not the correct principle, it is therefore with the words "Great Master" that it concludes "rely on the Dharma and not on the person."
