前明二持，此為第三。第一所學法，必起能學行，即第二持；既學行已，便有果利，故次辨菩薩受生果，是因求所遂，故言究竟瑜伽處。此持有五品，攝生為初，故言第一。

The previous [sections] explained the [first] two categories; this is the third. The dharmas to be trained in of the first [category] necessarily give rise to the practices capable of training, which is the second category. Once the practices have been trained in, there are immediately fruitional benefits; therefore, next is distinguished the bodhisattva's fruit of receiving birth. Since this fulfills what was sought in the causal [stage], it is called the Station of Ultimate Yoga. This category has five chapters, and subsumes birth as the first; hence it is called the first [chapter].
