12.3

論解慚愧依處有四中，第四云「若諸菩薩於自所生惡作有依隨逐不捨而生羞耻，當知是名」等者，言惡作有依，謂由第三作惡已悔，悔已復作，後作依前作，故名有依。

In the treatise's explanation of the four bases of shame and conscience, the fourth says: "If bodhisattvas generate shame over their own arising bad conduct that has a basis, following after them without abandoning them, know that this is called...", etc. "Bad conduct having a basis" means that from the third [basis], having committed an evil one repents, but having repented commits it again; the later deed relies upon the earlier deed, and therefore it is called having a basis.
