Formerly it was called the "Chapter on Wings." "Chapter on Wings" meant practicing the four dharmas like the wings of a bird, and hence it was named "Chapter on Wings." Now this is not so; having previously explained practice as entering the characteristics of a bodhisattva, both householders and renunciants cultivate these two divisions; because they cultivate based on the two divisions, it is called divisions, and hence it is titled "Chapter on Divisions." Why are divisions clarified? Having already entered the bodhisattva characteristics, both householders and renunciants can attain them, and so it is clarified directly after.
