論云「四諦說次第者，謂由此故苦，此最為初」者，謂由逼迫故苦，苦諦為初；如集諦故苦，以有因方有果故；由證滅故樂；如滅至樂故道。餘可知也。

Regarding where the treatise states, “The sequence of explaining the four truths: because it is suffering on account of this, this is the very first”: this means that because of oppression there is suffering, so the truth of suffering is first; as with the truth of origin, because there is suffering, only when there is a cause can there be a fruit; because of realizing cessation there is bliss; and as cessation reaches bliss, therefore there is the path. The rest can be known.
