Where the treatise explains form of the space element, saying: 'It should be known that this also relies on aggregated forms': as at the end of fascicle 1 of the Abhidharmakośa-śāstra, it is named form neighboring aghā; aghā means ultimate obstruction, and this form neighbors that; that is, right here, based on places of sound, form, and so forth, there is the form of the space element. In this section, the explanation below of the continuity of light and darkness is as explained previously in fascicle 3 of the 'Maulī Bhūmi'; however, according to the Dharma Master, this space element is precisely the forms of light and darkness. If so, why is it established separately apart from radiance? Because the substance of radiance has directional extent, radiance is established as a distinct characteristic. This space is different in its utility at the locations of other objects; therefore, the five non-existent elements do not exist.
