The treatise says: "Furthermore, with respect to form resulting from superior concentration subsumed under the dhātu of phenomena, it should be known that this form relies solely on superior concentration and does not rely on the great elements," and so forth. If this contradicts what is above, it has already been harmonized previously. Some say that here, the contemplation is solely for the purpose of derived form without an intended contemplation of the great elements; therefore in concentration one does not transform into the great elements. Spoken from the perspective of the form of the image and the fundamental substance prior to concentration, it also equally obtains the designation of being produced by the great elements. The previous passage was discussed based on determining that the mind transforms into the great elements, and thus derived form in concentration also transforms into the great elements; here it is not so, and thus there is a difference. Question: If the intended mind is not for the great elements, then in the contemplation there are no great elements; if the intended mind is not for derived form, then in the contemplation there is no derived form, and there are only the great elements? Therefore, we know that taking the previous harmonization is superior.
