Regarding the treatise's statement, "Should one say that all afflictions of the entire realm moisten rebirth? Or not all? Answer: One should say all, not not all": this asks about moistening rebirth, not initiating karma. Although there are ten afflictions that initiate karma, they are indeterminate in the path of cultivation, and afflictions such as greed in the higher realms do not initiate karma. Therefore, present [discussion] is based on moistening rebirth: self-love is the primary moistener, and the rest are auxiliary moisteners. As explained by itself below, it is meant to refute the Hīnayāna position that only greed moistens rebirth. The Abhidharma[-samuccaya] speaks only of self-love based on primary moistening, so there is no contradiction.
