17.84

基云：當言全非不全者，此約潤生已非發業，發業雖十煩惱道無記，上界煩惱貪等即不發業。故今據潤生，我愛為正潤餘為助潤，如下自出，為破小乘唯貪潤生故也。對法據正潤故，唯言我愛，不相違也。

Ji says: Regarding the statement that 'it should be said to be wholly so, not partially,' this concerns moistening rebirth, not initiating karma. Although with initiating karma the ten courses of defilement are unmanifested, higher-realm defilements such as craving do not initiate karma. Therefore, now based on moistening rebirth, self-craving is the direct moistening and the rest are auxiliary moistenings, as will be explained below, in order to refute the Hīnayāna view that craving alone moistens rebirth. The Abhidharma, being based on direct moistening, speaks solely of self-craving, so there is no contradiction.
