「四定智」者，是苦諦四行：苦、無常、空、無我。謂四顛倒定俱智也。「生故」者，離蘊別有生法義我生。「相故」，我體相狀。「及業用」等，可知。

'The four definitive cognitions': these are the four aspects of the truth of suffering—suffering, impermanence, emptiness, and non-self. They refer to the cognitions that are definitely associated with the four inversions. 'By reason of origination': there is a self that originates in the sense of a distinct phenomenon of origination apart from the aggregates. 'By reason of marks': the substantial marks of the self. 'And karmic functions' and so forth can be known.
