In the eighth section, "Fruits, Causes, and Conditions," there are two parts: first, marking the four categories, and then explaining them individually. This distinguishes three dharmas: first, the ten causes; second, the four conditions; third, the five fruits. The direct cause is the antecedent, next the superior serves as the establishment, and the indirect power is called concord. The "internal power" possesses seven virtues. Regarding "freedom from occupational hindrances": many discursive occupations are called occupational hindrances. Because of abundant reflection and discursiveness, various occupations are initiated, disturbing one's mind so that one foolishly cultivates wholesome factors; this is called an occupational hindrance. Freedom from such occupational hindrances is called freedom from occupational hindrances. The "external power" possesses five virtues. It is only when donors provide material support that one can practice; therefore, donors are spoken of as the external power. Regarding "abiding in the true Dharma": following along as a good friend, or not acting as a good friend, without being a hindering difficulty.
