In the enjoyment of vitarka and vicāra: "unstained" means not giving rise to afflictions. "Not dwelling" means not staying in hoarding and giving. "Not indulging" means not loving and delighting inappropriately. "Not entangled" means not being bound and abandoning all wholesome karma. "Not depressed" means not giving rise to grief and suffering. "Not attached" means not giving rise to impoverished grief; nor tenaciously grasping [it] as supreme and marvelous, etc. There is an explanation: these seven are associated only with mental consciousness, and the seven are spoken of according to different meanings. Alternatively, the first five are induced in the five consciousnesses by mental vitarka and vicāra, and in their respective order, one is not like this toward wealth; the last two are associated with mental consciousness.
