Among the seven treasures, five are sentient and two are insentient. That is to say, the wheel treasure and the jewel treasure: these two belong to the Lord of the Devas, and correspond below to the wheel-turning king. The elephant treasure is one of the five hundred sons of the dragon king Supratiṣṭhita, [born from] the flank of the asura mentioned earlier; the horse treasure is likewise the dragon-horse of the Lord of the Devas; and the three treasures of the woman, the minister, and the military commander are also ministers and concubines of the Lord of the Devas. These latter five treasures are born down in Jambudvīpa in correspondence with the wheel-turning sovereign; when the wheel-turning sovereign's conversion ceases, they die and return to heaven. The other two both descend in correspondence [with him] from heaven. As for the wheel treasure, it soars through the air and destroys enemies; made of gold with a thousand spokes, it is sculpted and adorned with manifold jewels. As for the elephant treasure, its seven members touch the ground; when the wheel-turning king mounts it, he soars through the air at will. As for the horse treasure, it has a crimson mane and tail, and can likewise soar through the air; when the king rides it, it travels swiftly and far. As for the jewel treasure, it can radiate light and rain down whatever is sought. As for the woman treasure, she is supple and boneless, dignified and beautiful, bears no offspring, and is naturally knowledgeable of the inner palace. The treasury-overseeing minister treasure is unswervingly faithful and knows hidden treasures. The military-overseeing minister treasure has the talent for governing state affairs and the capability to cease warfare; raising his body in wrath, the fourfold army gathers like clouds, sweeping away all before him to repel bandits and maintain vigilant guard. As the Avataṃsaka-sūtra describes, the matter is set forth in full. Although the other three wheel-turning kings each correspond to a wheel—differing as silver, copper, and iron—they do not possess the remaining treasures.
