北州中，「竟無繫屬，決定勝進」者，由習無我，故無繫屬；於衣食等，不起我所，由此當來決定勝進。彼洲定有生天後報業，無我觀前修十善業故，此言決定當得勝進。有處說彼有後報業，定墮鬼中，未審誠說。

Regarding 'having no attachment whatsoever, definitely progressing toward excellence' in the northern continent: because they practice selflessness, they have no attachment; toward clothing, food, and the like, they do not give rise to [the thought of] 'mine'; thus they are destined for definite progress toward excellence in the future. In that continent, there is definitely karma yielding a subsequent rebirth in heaven, because prior to the contemplation of selflessness they cultivate the ten wholesome courses of action; hence it says that they will definitely attain progress toward excellence. In some places it is said that they have karma yielding a subsequent rebirth that definitely falls among the pretas, but whether this is a trustworthy statement is not certain.
