「由希望生故，於追求時，能發隨眠」等者，由愛希求勝境和合、惡境別離，而熏種子，發取隨眠及順取法，愛取勝故，說愛取為緣。

Regarding 'Because it arises from longing, when pursuing, it can activate latent defilements': because through craving one longs for union with superior objects and separation from bad objects, it perfumes seeds and activates the latent defilements of grasping and dharmas that accord with grasping. Because craving and grasping are preeminent, craving is said to be the condition for grasping.
