4.47

第九、業過患中，「生現法罪，謂如能為自害」者，起殺加行，殺業未成，現被他害，當來未必受，未成重業故。又如在異生先行殺等，被他現害，後得入聖，不受後罪。或轉後果於現身受，後更不受，如鴦掘摩羅等，亦名現法罪。指同如前，能為自害，故云謂如。

Under the ninth, the faults of karma, 'generating an offense in the present lifetime, such as being able to cause self-harm' means: initiating the preparatory application of killing, but before the karma of killing is completed, one is harmed by another in the present, and will not necessarily experience [retribution] in the future because it did not become a grave karma. Furthermore, it is like an ordinary being who previously engaged in killing and the like, is harmed by another in the present, and later attains entry into the noble state, thus not experiencing future retribution. Or, one converts the future fruit into an experience in the present body and does not experience it further later, as with Aṅgulimāla and others; this is also called an offense in the present lifetime. Pointing to its being the same as before, able to cause self-harm, it therefore says 'such as'.
