5.105

第六大段，四修定中，初「為得現法樂住方便道中」等者，四根本靜慮，名現法樂住，為得此故，修近分定。「又根本地未圓滿清白」，修諸根本定，令得圓滿，通以有漏、無漏，善定為體。

The sixth major section: among the four cultivations of concentration, first, regarding “in the path of expedients for obtaining dwelling in happiness in the present life” and so forth: the four fundamental dhyānas are named dwelling in happiness in the present life; for the sake of obtaining them, one cultivates the preliminary concentrations. Furthermore, “the fundamental ground is not yet perfected and purified”: one cultivates the fundamental concentrations to make them perfected, taking wholesome concentrations, both polluted and unpolluted, as their nature.
