In the explanation of the twenty-first section with its six verses, there are six divisions: up to “such is collectively named the allure of desires” explains the first verse; second, from “furthermore, their yearning” onwards explains the second verse; third, from “furthermore, venomous snakes” onwards explains the third verse; fourth, from “furthermore, the intrinsic nature of desires” onwards explains the fourth verse; fifth, from “furthermore, regarding objective desires” onwards explains the fifth verse; sixth, from “if toward desires” onwards explains the sixth verse. “Various jewels and the like are termed mutually compatible” means they are reckoned among the seven treasures, signifying that they are precious, and used identically in all places; the contrary of this is termed incompatible. Among the following verses, the first three verses explain those in training contemplating defilement and distancing [themselves from it]; the latter three verses explain those beyond training contemplating defilement and cutting it off forever.
