7.61

第九段又釋流中有五頌，分為二段：初兩頌顯異生、有學等漸次能越暴流；後三頌明得究竟道，永越暴流。四流義，如前第八、九卷等釋。異生由正信越欲暴流，下之三句皆有學越餘三暴流。　「及顯能證第一住道」者，謂能證滅盡定道。　「二十二處」者，如下〈聲聞地〉廣說。

The ninth section again explains Floods in five verses, divided into two parts: the first two verses reveal ordinary beings, trainees, and others gradually able to cross over the floods; the latter three verses clarify attaining the ultimate path and perpetually crossing over the floods. The meaning of the four floods is as explained before in the eighth and ninth fascicles, etc. Ordinary beings cross over the flood of desires by correct faith, and the lower three lines all refer to trainees crossing over the other three floods. "And revealing the path of the foremost dwelling that can be realized" refers to the path that can realize the absorption of cessation (nirodhasamāpatti). "Twenty-two bases" are as extensively explained below in the Śrāvakabhūmi.
