第九段又釋流中，有五頌分為二段：初兩頌顯異生有學等漸次能越暴流；後三頌明得究竟道永越暴流。初兩頌中，前問後答。答中，初一句明異生由正信越欲暴流，後之三句皆有學越餘三流，四流義如前第八第九卷等釋，後三頌釋中，二十二處者，如下聲聞地廣說。及顯能證第一住道者，謂能證滅盡是。

In the ninth section, which further explains the floods, there are five verses divided into two sections: the first two verses show that worldlings, trainees, and the like can gradually cross over the floods; the following three verses clarify that attaining the ultimate path crosses the floods forever. Among the first two verses, the first asks and the second answers. In the answer, the first phrase clarifies that ordinary worldlings cross the flood of sensual desires through correct faith; the subsequent three phrases all indicate that trainees cross the remaining three floods. The meaning of the four floods is as explained earlier in fascicles eight, nine, and so forth. In the commentary on the latter three verses, the 'twenty-two places' are as explained extensively below in the Śrāvakabhūmi. 'And showing the ability to realize the path of the supreme abiding' refers to being able to realize the cessation [attainment].
